Welcome to the dead zone Detroit Lions fans. OTA's and Mandatory mini camp are over and for the next few weeks, things are going to be quiet in Lions land as we prepare for the start of training camp.

As we make our way towards camp, we're going to do a deep dive into the Lions entire roster. We'll be doing it section by section and player by player and go over the expectations for each player going into camp.

So far we've already covered interior defensive linemen, edge rushers linebackers, cornerbacks, safetiesoffensive line and the tight ends. Today we'll be talking about the receivers.

This is an easy one. St. Brown is already one of the best receivers in the league. He's coming off a Pro Bowl season and became the first Lions receiver in franchise history to start off his career with back to back 1,000 yard seasons.

The camp expectation is simple. Just show up and keep being that guy. Ok, maybe it should be a little more. There's some young players that are going to be catching passes this year, maybe St. Brown can be a guy that gives a little mentoring to them. Maybe those guys will stay after practice and catch passes with the juggs machine.

Jameson Williams

It really is unfortunate that Williams is going to miss the first six games of the season due to a suspension for violating the leagues gambling policy. I think everyone was hoping to see what he could do right away.

Until then, the main goal for Williams is simple. Work on chemistry with Jared Goff so that when he does hit the field, he'll be ready to go and we can see some of those big plays that so many expect from him. The good news is that the chemistry looked to be coming along already during OTA's and minicamp.

Kalif Raymond

Kalif Raymond is one of the most underrated guys on this entire team. Everyone is trying to find a new receiver to pair with St. Brown for the first six games that Williams is going to miss. That guy is probably already on the team in Raymond. After all, he did finish second in receiving yards for the Lions last year.

The camp expectation is that Raymond will be put in that very role. The Lions do have other receivers on this team and they can all share the load, but Raymond seems to be a guy that Goff can trust and he shown why. Just look at that catch against the Packers last season. Raymond is real option for this team. Even when Williams gets back, I expect Raymond to still be a big part of this teams receiving corps.

Marvin Jones

It's good to have Marvin Jones back in Detroit. Jones had the best years of his career here before heading over to the Jaguars after the 2020 season.

His camp expectation is that he's the leader of this group. Jones is the oldest guy in the room and he's seen everything that these guys are going to see in their career. He can really take on am mentor role to guys like Jameson Williams and Antione Green while still making plays on the field.

Josh Reynolds

The man that Dan Campbell calls "the serpent of death" could play a big role in the Lions receiving game during that first six games of the season. Reynolds has been with Goff for basically his entire career int he NFL. There's a built in chemistry there.

Reynolds camp expectation is that he steps up. I've been waiting to see this serpent of death side of him since he arrived in Detroit and it just hasn't happened yet. I think Reynolds has what it takes to be a starter in this league, I want to see him go out and take it.

Antione Green

There's some assumptions that are going to fly around here. The Lions drafted Green in the seventh round and he has some work ahead of him if he hopes to make the 53 man roster. I think he will at the end of the day. The Lions could use an X receiver out there.

His camp expectation is that he proves me right. We haven't heard much from Green so far this offseason, but In just think his contested catch ability and his ability to separate is too good to keep him off the roster. I think he has a great camp.

Tom Kennedy

Big play Tom. At least that's' what I like to call him. It seemed liek we often didn't see a lot of Kennedy in 2022 and then he would just come out of nowhere and grab a big catch. It's the thing that clearly kept him around. The staff trusts him. I just don't know if that will be enough this year.

The camp expectation is that Kennedy winds up on the Lions practice squad and some other team comes and signs him off it. Maybe we see Kennedy with the Lions again in 2023, I just don't see it happening.

The Fringe

I still don't really understand the Trinity Benson trade. Brad Holmes saw something in him, I would like to see that too. Maybe thus year. I like the idea of Chase Cota, but I think his speed is going to hurt him, even if he has nice acceleration. Maurice Alexander has a shot at making the team as a return man. We'll see how that plays out in camp. Dylan Drummond has a chance to be a camp darling as the hometown kid. He'll have to put in some work to be more than that.
