The New York Giants have allocated a wide range of capital to their defensive line over the past three years.
Whether it be draft picks, extensions, or free agent signings, New York clearly wants a dominant defensive front.
But if they are to truly become one of the best units in the league, they will need this player to take a big step this season, something I fully expect him to do:
Kayvon Thibodeaux

Thibodeaux found his footing down the stretch of his rookie season, compiling game-changing plays that rarely show up in the box score. So while his numbers weren't out of this world, it doesn't mean his presence wasn't felt on a down-to-down basis.
He single-handily helped win the Washington game, which placed the Giants in the playoffs. And still only 22 years old, this offseason was the first real year for Thibodeaux to learn what it's like to develop a pass rush plan, something he noted through OTA's and minicamp.
And if you think it's a stretch to go from widely unrecognized to a Pro Bowler in your second year, think again. Pass rushers often take the biggest leap from year one to year two, with great players like Joey Bosa and T.J. Watt both becoming Pro Bowlers in their sophomore campaigns.
So with a year under his belt, a mind clear on his goals, and a hungry player looking to prove worthy of his draft status, don't be surprised if Thibodeaux is in a bucket hat and flip-flops come late January.
