It felt like their balance and willingness to be creative took that portion of the unit to the next level. It was clear when you watched them, too. They were a top five red zone offense last year, and it is fair to expect a similar type of output in this next season.
2022 Red Zone TD Scoring: 64.8%
Their secret: The Giants were a red zone machine in 2022 but it all started with Daniel Jones. Per Warren Sharp's data, Brian Daboll's offense led the league in EPA per dropback, early down EPA per dropback, and passing success rate.
What was the most fun for this unit is that everything they did seemed to work. They ranked Top 5 in success rate when using 11, 12, and 20 personnel. They also ranked Top 5 when using no-huddle, shotgun, motion, play-action, short dropback, and designed rollouts.
Everything worked for them which is why they're on this list. — Mauricio Rodriguez, A to Z Sports
Considering their additions on offense, they could take another step forward in the red zone. Darren Waller was a quarterback's best friend there during some of his time with the Raiders. Now, he's the starting tight end in New York and should make a legit impact.
Not to mention, they did add rookie interior OL John Michael-Schmitz, who could be an upgrade for the unit. He should start was a rookie for New York. If the wide receivers can stay healthy, weapons like Parris Campbell and Wan'Dale Robinson project to be useful gadget guys inside the 20 as well. Getting them involved will be important for Jones and Vrabel.
Last but not least, don't count out similar rushing production from their QB in the red zone this year. Seven touchdowns from a season ago is a high number, but he proved that he could take his rushing to the next level. He set career highs in rushing yardage, and their nifty play-calling could pay off with even more opportunities for him to scamper into the end zone.
All in all, Daboll has done an impressive job to pull this offense from the depths, and they could build on that even further this season.
