Entering his third season in the league, Patriots safety Kyle Dugger has already proven himself and is being recognized for his contributions.
ESPN released rankings for different positions across the league, surveying "league executives, coaches, scouts, and players," along with looking at interviews and reviewing film.
While he didn't earn a spot in the Top 10, Dugger was given an honorable mention among the top safeties in the league.
"Love his ball skills," a veteran AFC executive said. "I typically don't like the big strong safety/linebacker types because they are often limited in coverage, but in this case, I really like the player and how disruptive he is."
Dugger was drafted by the Patriots in the second round, 37th overall pick, in the 2020 NFL Draft, coming from Lenoir-Rhyne, a Division II football program.
He finished his rookie season recording 64 total tackles in 14 games played. In 2021, he stepped it up, finished with 92 tackles and four interceptions, followed by 78 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and three interceptions in his third season.
With a steady growth across his NFL career, one NFC exec added that Dugger is "Versatile, tough, smart, excellent tackler."
Dugger was a key member of the defense last season, and with the Patriots looking to make the playoffs, they will need him to make big plays in big moments.
