The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best players in the NFL when it comes to All-Pro linebacker/edge Micah Parsons. Greatness has a price, and Parsons has shown this offseason that he's willing to pay it.
Parsons recently worked with former offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth to get some tips on being a more effective pass rusher. Also, he hit the boxing ring to work on his handwork.
The former first-round pick has found another way to take his game to another plateau. Parsons hit the sand pit with Coach Lance Deane this past weekend.
It makes sense that Parsons would be working with Deane. These two have been working together on Parsons' game since his high school days at Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and even as recently as April, Parsons worked with Deane on his explosiveness, technique, and overall conditioning.
Although he's 6'3" and around 250 pounds, Parsons has incredible 4.39 speed to go along with his size, making him a nightmare to defend, especially when he's coming off the edge. This particular workout is perfect for increasing acceleration, burst, and short-area quickness so Parsons is looking to get to the quarterback even faster.
Parsons is transitioning to being more of an edge player, but he'll still be the jack of all trades for the Cowboys' defense this upcoming season.
"Just playing chess, just being able to move around. I think that's the special ability that I have that I want to incorporate," Parsons said earlier this month. "We're doing a lot of special things. I don't want to give a lot away right now. But uh, it's gonna be a really cool year. I'm probably gonna play eight positions this year. So don't even ask me.
"Anything that's in that front seven and some coverage. Yeah, I'm telling you I'm gonna do it all. It's gonna be a year to remember for sure."
Judging by his first two seasons, there's no doubt 2023 will be memorable for Parsons.
