After a breakout season during the 2022 season, Rhamondre Stevenson isn't slacking off during the offseason.

Stevenson is heading into his third season with the New England Patriots, but this time as the top running back and isn't shying away from the increased leadership role.

"It's been hard work," Stevenson said in a one-on-one interview with KTNV 13 Las Vegas's Tina Nguyen. "Probably the best offseason I had to this day, so I'm excited for this season."

Last season, Stevenson finished with 210 carries for 1,040 yards and five touchdowns along with 69 receptions for 88 yards and one touchdown across 17 games played.

He began as the back up to Damien Harris, but an injury allowed Stevenson to take over that starting spot. However, when Harris returned, the two split carries.

Yet, Harris left this year to join the Buffalo Bills and Stevenson now has the "keys" to the running back room, as said by Nguyen.

It's an opporuntity he is not shying away from.

"Very excited to be that on my team," Stevenson said. "Something I dreamed of all the way. I'm just ready for the challenge."

Stevenson was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round (120th overall pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie season with 133 carries for 606 yards and five touchdowns.

Having only played in the league for two years, Stevenson continues to learn more about what it means to be a professional athlete.

"Just learning how to be a pro. Just learning how to carry myself as a NFL athlete and just just better myself on and off the field. I think it's been been great."
