Both on and off the field, Julian Edelman always has his teammate's back.
A story was published about Rob Gronkowski, saying that a former teammate was claiming the tight end "would party all night long and pass out on the training tables."
Edelman wanted to be sure that everybody knew the "story is BS."
According to the article, former Patriots defensive end Jake Bequette appeared on "Prime Time with Alex Stein," and told the story about Gronkowski going out all night and partying. He also added that Gronkowski would then "stagger in to the Patriots locker room."
Edelman tweeted numerous times in response to this story, including from the Games With Names account, which is the podcast he and stand-up comedian Sam Morrill host. The account responded to the story saying "Per Sources: Our Patriots insider confirms this is total bullsh*t," and even included a poop emoji at the end.
Edelman then responded to that tweet, saying "0% truth to this story. Can confirm."
Gronkowski and Edelman played together in New England for nine seasons, winning three Super Bowls together. Having spent that many years playing alongside the tight end, Edelman saw the five-time Pro Bowler's work ethic in full swing.
And another former Patriot also came to the tight end's defense.
Patrick Chung, who played with both Gronkowski and Edelman and won three Super Bowls alongside them, responded to Edelman's tweet, commenting about the claims being made on.
Chung wrote, "Exactly. People just want their time of fame. Willing to do anything to get it."
Gronkowski was always known to enjoy himself and show off his dance moves, but Edelman wanted to be clear that it never impacted his playing. The tight end is known as one of the best in history, receiving a lot of recognition for his career.
This included being named to the Patriots All-2010s Team along with the New England's All-Dynasty Team.
And while he had some crazy stories, including falling asleep during the pre-draft visit with the Patriots in 2010, that didn't stop the Patriots from trading up for him, and it certainly seemed to work out for both parties.
