Not a whole lot has changed since we last predicted what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 53-man depth chart will look like come September, but enough has changed to where we can do an updated one.

So, let's not waste any time, at all, and dive right in.

Remember, players with an asterisk (*) next to their name are rookies and players with two asterisks (**) are undrafted rookies.

Buccaneers’ 53-man Depth Chart Ahead Of Training Camp

Baker Mayfield is still the front-runner for the quarterback job, in my opinion. He just has more talent, experience, and moxie than Kyle Trask. Unless something goes sideways in training camp, Mayfield will be QB1 heading into the season. John Wolford makes the cut because of the NFL's three QB rule and I just don't think Trask will have done enough to where they feel comfortable with two QBs.

The Buccaneers love Sean Tucker and have even nicknamed him, "Baby Nick Chubb", but he still has a lot to prove and there are currently three guys in front of him that are all capable players. He has a big hill to climb because of a heart condition that's kept him out of offseason activities. The team says he'll be good to go by training camp, so it'll be interesting to see how much ground he can make up.

Deven Thompkins made the cut simply because of his return abilities. Outside of him and Trey Palmer, the Bucs don't have a reliable kick/punt returner. David Moore made the cut because there is zero veteran experience if Russell Gage Jr. has injury issues again and so far, that's exactly the case with Gage.

I think the Bucs will be a 12-personnel base offense and Tanner Taula should do just enough to nab the TE4 position.

The Bucs need to make sure they have plenty of viable options on the offensive line since they're making so many changes this year. The above 10 players give them a good mix of inside/outside versatility that also safeguards them from injury/poor play.

Mike Greene wins the DL6 job because of his ability to play all three positions along the defensive line. The Bucs are putting Greg Gaines behind Vita Vea, so nose tackle is set, meaning, Deadrin Senat doesn't make the cut.

SirVocea Dennis wins LB4 and K.J. Britt sticks because of his special teams play.

Dee Delaney wins the nickel job over Josh Hayes and Zyon McCollum. But with Chris Izien in the mix, the Bucs have three guys in Hayes, Izien, and Delaney who can play inside, which isn't an awful situation, at the end of the day.

When zooming out and examining this version of the roster, it's clear the Bucs really need some depth guys to step up this year. If the team suffers major injuries to key players then it's going to be hard to compete, even in the mid NFC South.

But, if the team can avoid the injury bug that's plagued them the last two years, this roster has the ability to surprise some people. That's not saying the Bucs are in a spot where they can make a deep playoff run, or anything, but there are enough pieces that can help them win a decent amount of games if all goes well.
