The Kansas City Chiefs have an important draft to attend in their hometown at the end of the month. They are trying to follow up on one of their best, or stacked I should say, drafts in a long time. All but two of the guys they drafted played significant roles this last season, and made huge plays in the postseason, including the Super Bowl.

Because they won the Super Bowl, they have the very last pick of the draft. Now, they could easily pick a guy at that pick and still get either a good offensive tackle or maybe even a great edge rusher if available.

Last season they traded up to get Trent McDuffie, and could very well be doing the same during this draft. They have 12 picks and don't have a lot of roster spots to fill, so they will likely be using some of those picks in trade packages.

But one NFL analyst thinks the Chiefs will be trading their number one pick to move up in the draft, again.

Chiefs receive: No. 25 overall (Round 1)

Giants receive: No. 31 overall (Round 1)

No. 95 overall (Round 3)

The most difficult thing to do in sports is staying on top. The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs know the Bengals and Bills will be knocking on their door, with another seven or eight teams keeping their eyes on the prize in the ultra-competitive AFC. GM Brett Veach and coach Andy Reid might feel another difference-maker on offense is needed to keep the train rolling. Even if they think Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney can take the spots of free-agent departures JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman, an additional receiver could come in handy if injuries hit again this season. At least one of the top wideouts should be available at 25, with Zay Flowers and Jalin Hyatt the most likely candidates. The Giants moved down twice in the second round last year, accumulating fourth- and fifth-round selections to build roster depth. GM Joe Schoen must have learned during his time as an assistant to Beane in Buffalo about the value of dropping a few spots in exchange for a top-100 selection, especially when the team can still find a center or corner prospect waiting to become the final pick of the first round

The Chiefs need an offensive tackle, right tackle to be exact, especially after the departure of Andrew Wylie. They also need a receiver and edge rusher. It also wouldn't hurt to get interior defenders, but that can wait till after the first round.

If they were to trade up to pick 25, there is a big difference between that pick and the one they currently have. They would potentially be able to get guys like offensive tackle Broderick Jones, offensive tackle Anton Harrison, and offensive tackle, Darnell Wright.

Or, if they wanted to go defense, they may be able to get Georgia edge rusher, Nolan Smith. Shoot, that would put them in a better position to get a guy like Zay Flowers, a receiver from Boston College, whereas at pick 31 most of those guys could be off the board.

I think we could easily see the Chiefs trade up.
