The New Orleans Saints need an edge rusher early in the 2023 NFL Draft in a perfect world. They must add an impact player to a room that has lost some experience over the past couple of years.

As of now, Carl Granderson and Payton Turner are projected to get many of the snaps opposite Cameron Jordan off the edge.

Granderson flashed often last year, but they can't rely solely on him as their starter. Turner is unproven and has struggled with injuries.

The Saints got lucky in the latest mock draft from Pro Football Focus. They secured arguably a top 15 player in the class with the 29th selection in the first round.

Sam Monson gave them Clemson pass rusher Myles Murphy in his latest mock draft.

The Saints look to replace Marcus Davenport with another talented, athletic and physically imposing edge defender in Clemson’s Myles Murphy. A player who didn’t necessarily peak in college, Murphy was consistently good without reaching great. He finished 2022 with only a 14.3% pass-rush win rate, but the Saints would value his athletic traits. –Sam Monson

Many believe that Murphy could go in the top fifteen picks of this year's draft.

Of course, there are always surprises and sliders when it comes to the draft. No one can have a perfect pulse on what every single team is thinking when the draft begins.

For the Saints, it would be a home run selection. Murphy is a top five pass rusher in this class with impressive physical traits and leadership qualities.

Murphy plays with explosiveness that few other prospects possess. He fits in nicely with the Saints' scheme, too.

With the Tigers, he led their defensive line last season. We all know how consistently Clemson produces NFL players on the DL, too.

A duo of Murphy and Cameron Jordan would be fantastic for the Saints.
