The days of the Detroit Lions being the worst team in the NFC North look like they are finally coming to a close.

Projections are one thing, but actually coming through with said projections is a completely different story.

Still, the Lions look like they are in a great spot to capitalize on the end of one of the worst streaks for them in the division.

The Lions are favored to win the NFC North for the first time since 1992.

Could there be a better way to signal the franchise-wide change?

It makes perfect sense.

The Bears have no identity. The Packers are losing one of the best players in franchise history. The Vikings are good, but will they be able to keep pace with the Lions offense from 2022 if it also has this new-look defense to back it up? Seems unlikely.

Again, preseason projections aren't the whole story, but it is a good litmus test for the fact that things are turning around in a major way in Detroit.
