Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott entered the NFL and were drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016. The duo produced a ton of highlights, multiple successful seasons, and several fun memories.

That era came to an end earlier this offseason. Dallas released Elliott in order to save money on the salary cap and hand over the reins to Tony Pollard in the backfield. It's going to be a bit different not seeing Zeke lined up behind or next to Prescott moving forward.

Prescott touched on that subject during an appearance on ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter's podcast. The topics included included Elliott, quarterback contracts, and much more. It's clear that Prescott would like Elliott back on the roster.

Elliott was one of the premier running backs in the NFL during his time with the Cowboys, including leading the league in rushing three times. However, his steady decline due to wear and tear, paired with the emergence of Pollard, made the Cowboys opt to move on.

"That sure would be nice," Prescott said on the podcast about bringing Elliott back. "There are a lot of people not only on the team but in the organization that would love that."

Zeke remains unsigned since being released in March. There was speculation about him joining the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, or even the Philadelphia Eagles. Yet, he has not found a new home to this point.

He was recently seen working out with Prescott and other members of the Cowboys this month. While not earth-shattering due to the relationship that the two have and since Elliott still lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, it's still an interesting tidbit.

Prescott acknowledges that it's a business. Both the Cowboys and Elliott have to do what is best for them. That said, the Cowboys' quarterback remains hopeful about a reunion.

"Hopefully that could happen," said Prescott.
