Even after adding veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks, the Dallas Cowboys remain in the market for more wide receiver help. At this stage, however, any significant addition is most likely to come through the NFL Draft.
The team has scheduled several workouts and Top-30 visits with talented wide receiver prospects. And Cowboys wide receiver coach Robert Prince even led the Tennessee Volunteers' Pro Day drills of Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman. Ravens WR coach Greg Lewis joined Prince in the task.
Both of these players could be significant names on the Cowboys' Draft Board.
Hyatt, who posted a 15-touchdown season with 1,267 receiving yards as a junior, is one of the biggest names in the NFL Draft this year. Anyone remotely familiar with college football is well aware of who he is. Fifteen touchdowns tend to do that, I would assume.
Although his draft stock has been highly controversial among talent evaluators, his big play ability is likely to entice many teams around the league.
Six catches of 50+ yards in 2022 are difficult to ignore. That's why some doubt league front offices will let him slip to the second round.
As for Tillman, he could be an even more realistic target for the Cowboys as they could be in the running for him in the second round. Although he was the No. 2 in Tennessee, he's a Top 10 WR in this year's draft class for many evaluators.
"(Tillman) has shown he can line up in the slot or as an outside X receiver. Not an overly dynamic athlete, projects best as an outside receiver or a power slot if you want to give him time to develop more releases," writes A to Z Sports draft analyst Tyler Browning.
The Cowboys' wide receiver starting lineup looks better than last year but the team could use depth as well as developmental pieces behind CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Gallup.
Based on Prince's presence on Hyatt's and Tillman's Pro Day, there could be some significant interest there.
