Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker is hoping to be an early-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hooker, who tore his ACL in Tennessee's loss to South Carolina last November, has been limited in what he's been able to show teams on the field this offseason.

But he's more than made up for it with strong performances during interviews with NFL teams.

Hooker has impressed with his intelligence and his football knowledge, showing off his "board skills" while drawing up plays for teams.

On Thursday, at Tennessee's Pro Day, Hooker was asked by reporters which quarterbacks he's watched and tried to take things from.

Hooker said when he's preparing for a game that he watches the previous five quarterbacks that have played the team he's about to play. He also compared himself to two superstar NFL quarterbacks.

“Honestly, whenever I’m preparing for a game, on Thursday I usually look at the previous five games that the team that we’re about to play has played and the things that the quarterbacks have done that worked against that defense," said Hooker. "And I’ll try to implement some of that into my game. Since I’ve seen it work, I know that hey, I can use this and it’ll work against that defense. So really I look at everybody."

"I feel like my game most resembles Deshaun Watson’s and a little bit of Josh Allen as well, but that’s about it," added Hooker.

I can certainly see some of Watson and Allen in Hooker's game.

Much like Allen, Hooker isn't afraid of contact — even when he should probably slide sometimes.

Hooker has maintained that he'll be ready for the start of the 2023 season, reemphasizing that point on Thursday.

"I just met with my doctor on Monday and he said that I’ll be good, so yeah, I look forward to that," said Hooker.

Hooker also said he'll be straight-line running in three weeks.
