The Denver Broncos had a terrible 2022 season, and it didn't help that they played some really good teams. But, if we are being honest, the Broncos had one of the easier schedules last year, so, that was more of them just struggling. It doesn't take away that they still played the Super Bowl champions twice, and a few other really good teams as well.
According to Warren Sharp, one of the more respected NFL analysts, the Broncos had the 17th easiest schedule in 2022. Or you could say they had the 16th hardest schedule. They fell right in the middle, which usually teams like to do.
You want to have a bit of competition because it makes your team better, and it gives you a better understanding of where your team lies within the league.
In 2023, a year they needed to get things right, they could have been hit with one of the harder schedules, but instead, they fall right back in the middle of the pack.
Sam Hoppen on Twitter laid out the teams with the hardest strength of schedule based on Draft Kings' projected win totals, and it turns out the Broncos are in that middle area again. According to Hoppe's data, the Broncos will have the 13th hardest strength of the schedule
At home the Broncos are due to play the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Washington Commanders.
On the road, the Broncos will play the Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and the Buffalo Bills.
So, while it does get a bit harder, luckily the Broncos are still somewhat in the middle of the pack. They could be like the Chiefs and have the third hardest strength of schedule.
