You'd assume the Houston Texans, owners of the second overall draft pick, would schedule a formal "Top 30" visit with every quarterback projected to go in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

But apparently, there's one specific quarterback prospect that has no visit scheduled: Florida Gators QB Anthony Richardson.

That has to be a major surprise considering they're widely expected to take a quarterback. And either it's a smokescreen attempt or the Texans are screaming to the NFL world that they're not taking the guy.

With a position as critical as quarterback and a unique chance to select the second player in the Draft, why wouldn't you host visits with each and every one of the top guys?

According to KPRC2's Texans insider Aaron Wilson, the franchise has visits set up with C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, and Will Levis. They even brought in Hendon Hooker, per the report.

"A visit with Richardson is no longer scheduled, per a source, but a private workout remains a possibility," writes Wilson in a recent article.

While the workout is still a possibility less than one month removed from Draft Day, it raises an eyebrow that he's the one top quarterback that the Texans aren't hosting for a Top 30 visit.

Not many would expect the Texans to take Richardson, I'll grant you that. Stroud and Young have been the favorites to go one and two for a while now. But still, the Texans are bringing in both Will Levis and Hendon Hooker.

Why not bring in the player who has the best athletic traits in the class and figure out if he's worth the risk?

Heck, you would've assumed he's the one guy you want to talk to the most since he's got limited playing experience and is a raw project with a ton of upside.

At the very least, it's quite a head-scratcher that the Texans wouldn't bring him in for a visit. We'll see if it plays a role down the line.
