The Detroit Lions are going to spend the next few days scrambling to make plans on the heels of the recent news that hurts the franchise.
The loss of Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill for six games due to gambling infractions is going to hurt the roster, but these aren't the only players to get hit with a punishment from the NFL.
Quintez Cephus and C.J. Moore also received suspensions from the league. The only extra issue with these suspensions is that they are indefinite.
The Lions can't wait around forever for players that don't take their jobs seriously. They might be able to wait for guys with defined roles like Williams, but waiting indefinitely for Cephus or Moore just isn't how this franchise moves forward. The team essentially had no other choice on these two:
Quintez Cephus and C.J. Moore are no longer a part of the team. This news by itself doesn't do as much to hurt the team as a player like Williams, but it does leave holes that will need to be addressed.
The wide receiver room just lost two players that made sense to make the 53-man roster, and now the team will need to fill these holes before the start of the season if it has any hopes of winning the NFC North for the first time in a painful while.
