A.J. Brown endorses Derrick Henry trade to Philadelphia Eagles
A.J. Brown would welcome Derek Henry with open arms.
The three years that A.J. Brown and Derrick Henry crafted a pick-your-poison offense must have been memorable because the now Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver wants his team to push for a reunion with his old running back.
CBS' The Talk and NBC American Ninja Warrior host Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, who played four seasons in the NFL, put out a tweet Saturday morning that indicated Henry was being traded from the Titans to the Eagles. While social media has been buzzing with the rumor, Brown opened up about the possibility on Twitter.
Marcus Epps wore No. 22 last season. But since he departed in free agency, the number is open for Henry's taking.
There has been no indication of Henry leaving the Titans or getting traded, yet, but the three-time Pro Bowler does have one year remaining on his contract with a base salary of $10.5 million. His cap number is $16,367,647 for 2023, the final year of a four-year deal with the Titans he signed in 2020.
Henry has been the most efficient running back for the last few years in the league. Henry has four 1,000-yard seasons and has led the NFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns twice.
It has been rumored that Henry could be slowing down, as his average yards per carry have dipped slightly over the last two seasons. But he still represents the best that the NFL has to offer at the running back position.
It is clear that Brown wants to play alongside Henry again. And given their history, there is no better advocate.
