The Denver Broncos have a huge need at one position we seem to be forgetting about, but one NFL expert has them getting an absolute steal in round five.
This offseason we saw the Broncos' new ownership group, along with their new head coach, go all out on the offensive line in free agency. Well, we saw them go all out on two guys Mike McGlinchey and Ben Powers.other guard to possibly play on the opposite side of Powers because they need the depth. This franchise has historically struggled with injuries, and the offensive line has dealt with it just as much as any other team unit in the last few years. They need depth desperately.
Matt Miller of ESPN has the Broncos getting another guard to possibly play on the opposite side of Powers because they need the depth. This franchise has historically struggled with injuries, and the offensive line has dealt with it just as much as any other team unit in the last few years. They need depth desperately.
Miller has the Broncos getting Wanya Morris from Oklahoma with the 108th pick in the draft. Morris is a guy that many people think could go in the second or third round, but instead, Miller thinks the Broncos could snag him in round five. Here is what NFL.com thinks of the athletic guard.
Morris is an athletic pass-setter with a strong inside hand but lacks the desired level of core strength to effectively push back against rush bullies. He’s very average at getting to positioning for back-side cut-off blocks in the run game and struggles to stay connected to sustain blocks due to inconsistent hand placement and drive strength in his lower half. His physical profile and experience starting at both tackle spots should give him a leg up in a camp battle for a swing tackle role.
At left guard, the Broncos currently have Ben Powers and Will Sherman. At right guard, they have Quinn Meinerz. That's three total players for two positions. That is bound to change in the draft this weekend.
Morris can be a guy that can start right away if he needed to because of injuries, and after some development, can be a starter on a regular basis. The Broncos will need the depth, and Morris is the steal in the fifth round.
