The New Orleans Saints have their quarterback in Derek Carr, and they aren't hurting for weapons on the outside with Michael Thomas and Chris Olave.

The injury history of Thomas is concerning, so the Saints would be wise to add some more firepower to their attack through the air this week. ESPN did a mock draft recently that has New Orleans addressing the receiver position in round three by taking Oklahoma speedster Marvin Mims.

The Saints hope to have Michael Thomas opposite Chris Olave in 2023. But even if Thomas is back healthy for the first time since early in the 2020 season, adding a slot receiver who can stretch the field from the inside is a wise Round 3 move. Mims had 123 catches and 20 touchdowns over three seasons at OU.

Mims was certainly a slot demon for the Sooners with 390 snaps logged during his three seasons with them. However, he didn't just produce there as he also lined up on the outside for 461 snaps per Pro Football Focus. So, Mims is a versatile weapon that can't be undervalued.

As a freshman, Mims received second-team All-Big 12 after compiling 37 receptions for 610 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns. He came back with 705 yards and five scores in 2021 and averaged 22 yards per catch.

Mims put together his best campaign last season. He was named a first-team All-Big 12 performer after he racked up 54 receptions for 1,083 yards and six touchdowns on 20.1 yards per reception.

Not only is Mims a receiving threat, but he also showed his ability as a punt returner at Oklahoma. He return 35 punts for 394 yards with his longest of 41 yards coming last season. So, as you can see, Mims is a dynamic weapon in many ways.

Mims put on a show at the NFL Combine. He ran a scorching 4.38 in the 40-yard dash with a 39.5-inch vertical jump and a 10'9" in the broad jump.

The Saints could use the services of Mims in their offense with his speed and versatility. Day two would be a perfect time to snatch him up.
