With three picks in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars mixed it up a bit by addressing both sides of the ball.
The Jaguars grabbed WR Parker Washington out of Penn State with the 185th pick of the Draft and followed that up with CB Christian Braswell from Penn State. To close things for the sixth round, they doubled down at cornerback and picked Erick Hallett II from Pittsburgh.
Below is a breakdown of how the Jaguars' sixth round played out.
- Round 6, No. 185 overall: WR Parker Washington, Penn State
- Round 6 No. 202 overall: CB Christian Braswell, Rutgers
- Round 6, No. 208 overall: CB Erick Hallett II, Pittsburgh
Already loaded with weapons, the Jaguars decided to add another wide receiver in Washington. At 5-foot-9, the Penn State product's height ranks in the ninth percentile among wide receivers and he doesn't make up for it in length, which ranks in the second percentile.
However, Washington's strength and routes allowed him to lead the Nittany Lions in receiving yards as soon as Jahan Dotson left for the NFL. In 2022, he caught 46 passes for 611 yards. He did have a 2-3 touchdown-to-drop ratio, which isn't ideal, however.
Here's The Athletic's Dane Brugler's scouting report on Lawrence's new friend, which even compares him to former Pro Bowler Golden Tate:
"Overall, Washington has subpar length and only average speed at the position but his agile footwork, instinctive ball skills, and competitive toughness help him create opportunities.
He is best in the slot and projects as s Golden Tate-like target."
Braswell, the CB out of Rutgers, is an undersized player at 5'11 and 183 pounds. However, he recorded three interceptions and eight pass breakups in 2022. His explosive play earned could translate well to the NFL.
Erick Hallett II is also an undersized DB who played free safety for Pittsburgh. However, his speed and agility testing was great, per his Relative Athletic Score.
