The New Orleans Saints have been known for one major aspect over the past decade. They do not rebuild. The front office simply doesn't believe in it. General Manager Mickey Loomis is known for his work within the salary cap along with his fellow executives in New Orleans.
Entering this off-season, the Saints were over the salary cap by over $50 million. Now, they sit in the top 15 of the NFL in cap space with just over $14 million available.
That's after adding some replacement depth on defense and signing a new quarterback in Derek Carr and running back in Jamaal Williams.
NFL Network analyst Peter Schrager believes in the Saints' mindset and Mickey Loomis' vision for the organization.
He has confident in the veteran talent that the Saints have kept around.
Additionally, he likes their chances in their division. The NFC South projects to be a weak division once again, and the Saints will have every opportunity to take advantage of that.
Based on their talent, they should win the division and secure a playoff spot.
Schrager also gives a nod to the Saints front office and roster for their willingness and ability to work out contract restructures to maneuver the salary cap for this season.
He's clearly very impressed with New Orleans. Let's see if they can prove him right this season.
