The Detroit Lions brought a familiar face back to town this week.
Wide receiver Marvin Jones recently signed a one-year deal worth up to $5 million to return to Detroit.
Jones previously played for the Lions from 2016 to 2020. His last season was Matt Patricia's final season which resulted in a fourth-place finish in the NFC North.
Jones was reintroduced by the Lions on Wednesday and he instantly made a strong statement about the state of the franchise.
The former California standout made it clear that he likes the direction of the team under Dan Campbell, who is entering his third season as the Lions' head coach.
"It's a new feel for sure," said Jones. "And I think when I came here, the first thing everybody said is, 'Hey, Marv, it's different, you're going to love it.' The culture's different, the coaches, everything. It's not the same. So I think that was definitely one of the reasons why it was definitely appealing for me to come back here and, why not?"
I don't think there's any doubt that Detroit is moving in the right direction. But hearing Jones make these comments as a player who left for a couple of years and is now returning essentially solidifies that the culture has completely flipped inside the Lions' facility.
And that certainly bodes well for the future success of the franchise.
