If you follow other teams around the league and just NFL news in general then you know that the Tennessee Titans just gave Jeffery Simmons a huge contract extension. If you follow the Kansas City Chiefs close then you know Chris Jones is due for one too.

This league news of Simmons' extension kind of puts the Chiefs in a tough spot where now they have a number they have to do better than, and also it puts more pressure on them to get the deal done.

Jeff Simmons is amazing. He is a top-three defensive tackle in the league. But, he is three, not one of two. Do you know who is better than him? Aaron Donald and Chris Jones. This last season Jones was the best in the league at the position.

So for Simmons to get a four-year extension worth $94 million, that’s $23.5 million per year based on new money, means Jones will want a deal even larger than that.

And the best part for Jones is that he deserves more than that. This guy finished the top three in the Defensive Player of the Year Award and made key play after key play in the postseason and the Super Bowl. He is a top defender in the league, never mind one of the bests at his position.

And, it seems like Jones is only getting better every year, as he just had the best season of his career. The longer the Chiefs wait, the worse the market will get for them.

Jones deserves around a $100 million extension if Simmons is getting as much as he is getting. But, there is always the possibility that he takes less to help with cap situations. I mean he has said that he is a Chief for life, and he is never going anywhere.
