The Kansas City Chiefs have a few needs as they enter the 2023 NFL Draft held in Kansas City. They need more pass rushers, edge and interior, they need a right tackle, and they need receiver depth or even a guy that could be the number one receiver.
They have 12 picks to do that too. Now, they won't use every pick on just those three positions, and other positions on this team are filled for the most part, so we could see them make some moves to move up.
Either way, the Chiefs are bound to take a receiver, and one ESPN analyst thinks the perfect fit is a guy from Ole Miss, which has produced some pretty good receivers as of late, like A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf.
Matt Miller: Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss. The buzz started at the Senior Bowl when scouts and coaches were talking about Mingo's build looking like A.J. Brown's. At 6-2 and 220 pounds, he does resemble Brown or Alshon Jeffery when watching him in person. And like those big-bodied wideouts, Mingo has the power to box out defenders and is a menace on breaking routes, helping him to 16.9 yards per catch last season. He ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the combine and elevated his status to Round 2 target. Teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, Bills, and Chiefs all make sense for him at the end of the second round.

The Chiefs are somewhat small at receiver as things currently stand, Marquez Valdes-Scantling is tall, but he isn't the biggest guy. Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and Richie James are all short with lower body strength. So, to get a guy who has that speed factor the Chiefs covet, but also has some muscle on him along with the frame, would be great.
As long as he can run routes, and catch the ball, it really won't matter who you throw out there for the Chiefs, because Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback. But, you certainly still want the best guys possible out there making plays.
