The anticipation around the NFL Draft for fans of the New York Giants continues to build. They've had an impressive and productive off-season.
After adding playmakers like Darren Waller and Parris Campbell, they could potentially grab another wideout early in the draft. That being said, offensive line could be the target early on for New York. On defense, cornerback stands out as clearly the top need. Safety and linebacker could use upgrades as well as depth.
So, how aggressive will the Giants be in the first round?
If they choose to move up, you'd have to think it would be for a wide receive for cornerback. They may have their eye on Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers at WR, so one of them going off the board in the teens could force their hand.
At CB, we could see a run on them early in the teens. Devon Witherspoon and Christian Gonzalez are almost assuredly going in the top fifteen. If they begin to fall, the Giants could jump up to grab a premium CB.
That would be a great move for New York. AS for others CBs, Joey Porter Jr. and Deonte Banks are expected to go sometime in the first round. They are often mocked between three and ten picks before the Giants select at 25.
A trade up for the Giants would depend on how far they want to move up. If it is just 3-5 picks, you could see them send 25 and an early day three selection. If it's more than that, they'll potentially have to give up their third-round selection in this year or draft compensation next year.
On the other hand, a move down could be smart for the Giants if their top options go before they expect, and they do not move up in the order. Dropping to the end of the first round would most likely garner them another fourth or fifth round pick. If they wanted to scoot back into the second-round, that price will certainly go up to accompany the second rounder.
