The Indianapolis Colts went out and attacked the 2023 NFL Draft with a sound strategy. General manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen addressed key roster needs, none bigger than quarterback.

Anthony Richardson is set to be the quarterback of the future, providing real excitement for the fan base. But, Indianapolis did a good job of building other areas of the roster through the draft, too.

Let's check out the Colts' post-draft roster. Note: Single asterisks (*) represent 2023 draft picks and double asterisks (**) represent undrafted free agents.

Quarterback

Anthony Richardson*
Gardner Minshew
Sam Ehlinger
Nick Foles

The Skinny: It's a new era for the Colts, as Anthony Richardson is the future at quarterback. The only questions is when the No. 4 overall selection will take over the starting role. Free agent pickup Gardner Minshew follows Shane Steichen over from the Eagles, providing a level of familiarity.

Running back

Ethan Hull*
Jonathan Taylor
Zack Moss
Darrynton Evans
Jake Funk
Deon Jackson
Aaron Shampklin

The Skinny: Running back is the deepest position on the roster, highlighted by All-Pro Jonathan Taylor. But, the Colts continue to add depth. Darrynton Evans was signed in free agency, and Ethan Hull was selected in the fifth-round. Steichen's offense utilities the running back position in a big way.

Wide receiver

Josh Downs*
Michael Pittman Jr.
Alec Pierce
Isaiah McKenzie
Ashton Dulin
Malik Turner
Kristian Wilkerson
Vyncint Smith
Michael Strachan
Ethan Fernea

The Skinny: Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce are established weapons outside. Isaiah McKenzie was inked in free agency thanks to his ability to play in the slot and his upside as a returner. Indianapolis drafted Josh Downs in the third-round, and the North Carolina product should carve out a key role right out of the gate.

Tight End

Will Mallory*
Mo Alie-Cox
Pharaoh Brown
Kylen Granson
Nikola Kalinic
Andrew Ogletree
Jelani Woods
Jalen Wydermyer

The Skinny: The Colts are deep at tight end, with Mo Allie-Cox and Jelani Woods leading the way at the position. Indianapolis added Miami prospect Will Mallory to the equation during the final day of the draft. Mallory has an intriguing athletic profile and is a respectable blocker.

Offensive line

Blake Freeland*
Jake Witt*
Wesley French
Will Fries
Arlington Hambright
Ryan Kelly
Jordan Murray
Quenton Nelson
Carter O'Donnell
Danny Pinter
Bernhard Raimann
Dakoda Shepley
Braden Smith

The Skinny: Indianapolis has work to do at offensive line. So, it was important for the Colts to add some depth to the trenches on the third day of the draft with athletic, high-upside prospects Blake Freeland in the fourth-round and Jake Witt with its final pick. Quenton Nelson returning to All-Pro form would be big.

Defensive line

Adetomiwa Adebawore
McTelvin Agim
Rashod BerryTaven Bryan
DeForest Buckner
Kameron Cline
Samson Ebukam
Eric Johnson
Khalid Kareem
Tyquan Lewis
Dayo Odeyingbo
Kwity Paye
Grover Stewart
Chris Williams

The Skinny: DeForest Buckner headlines the defensive line unit for the Colts, but he's far from the only talented piece up front. Kwity Paye has flashed, and Indianapolis added former 49ers pass rusher Samson Ebukam in free agency. Northwestern product Adetomiwa Adebawore fell right into the team's lap in the fourth-round.

Linebacker

Titus Leo*
JoJo Domann
Zaire Franklin
Shaquille Leonard
Cameron McGrone
Segun Olubi
Forrest Rhyne
E. J. Speed
Grant Stuard

The Skinny: Shaquille Leonard headlines the linebacker corps in Indianapolis, as he's well-established. EJ Speed is another important piece for the defense. Indianapolis added Titus Leo in the seventh-round of the draft.

Cornerback

Julius Brents*
Darius Rush*
Jaylon Jones*
Darrell Baker Jr.
Tony Brown
Dallis Flowers
Kenny Moore
Isaiah Rodgers
Kevin Toliver
David Vereen

The Skinny: There was some turnover in the secondary for the Colts this offseason. Most notably, Indianapolis flipped Stephon Gilmore for a fifth-rounder. Then, the Colts drafted three corners in Julius Brents, Darius Rush, and Jaylon Jones. All have things to like about their game, and it's especially easy to see Brents playing significant snaps as a rookie.

Safety

Daniel Scott*
Henry Black
Julian Blackmon
Nick Cross
Marcel Dabo
Trevor Denbow
Rodney Thomas II

The Skinny: Julian Blackmon leads the way at safety for the Colts, with Nick Cross also playing a significant role at strong safety in the back end of the defense. The Colts added California product Daniel Scott on the final day of the draft.

Special Teams

Matt Gay
Lucas Havrisik
Luke Rhodes
Rigoberto Sanchez

The Skinny: The Indianapolis Colts made a bit of a splash in free agency when they inked former Rams kicker Matt Gay. Indianapolis signed Gay to the largest free agency deal for a kicker in NFL history. Needless to say, the Colts are banking on that paying off in a big way.
