The Buffalo Bills have the No. 27 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Cincinnati Bengals, one of the Bills' top rivals, have the No. 28 overall selection.

That means the Bills have a chance to draft a player that Cincinnati might also want.

According to some recent draft notes from Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, that's exactly the scenario facing both teams on the opening night of the draft. Breer said this week that the Bills and the Chiefs have some interest in drafting the same player at the end of the first round.

Breer noted that both teams like Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs

"Always intriguing to hear what teams are interested in the same guys, and such is the case with the Giants and Chiefs leading up to tomorrow, with both linked in NFL circles to Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers and Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs," wrote Breer. "I’ve also heard the Ravens and Vikings connected to Flowers, and the Bills and Bengals tied to Gibbs, with both being intriguing jacks of all trades for creative offensive coordinators. Both should go Thursday."

The Bills and the Bengals each have Super Bowl-worthy rosters regardless of what happens in the NFL draft this weekend.

Both teams, however, could use a dynamic player like Gibbs, though there's room for debate on whether or not drafting a running back in the first round is wise. Either way, both teams seem interested which indicates that two Super Bowl-caliber teams view Gibbs as a first-round talent.

If the Bengals seriously want to draft Gibbs, they'll either have to gamble on the Bills passing on him or trade up to land him. And if Cincinnati trades up for a running back, they'll likely face some pushback from their fanbase.

In other words, the Bills are in a better spot here than the Bengals.
