Former Tennessee Vols quarterback JT Shrout reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday.

Shrout played for Colorado the last two seasons after spending his first three years at Tennessee.

The California native, a former three-star recruit, was part of Jeremy Pruitt's first recruiting class in Knoxville (2018 cycle).

Shrout passed for 494 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions at Tennessee. He missed the entire 2021 season due to injury after transferring from UT.

This past season, Shrout passed for 1,220 yards, seven touchdowns, and eight interceptions at Colorado (he made seven starts).

Shrout left Tennessee in late 2020 before Pruitt was fired and Josh Heupel was hired.

The Vols currently need a No. 3 quarterback and Shrout could certainly fill that need (we've seen players leave programs before and return to serve in that role, such as Clemson quarterback Hunter Johnson).

It's unclear, however, if Tennessee has any interest in Shrout.

Western Kentucky could also be an option for Shrout. The Hilltoppers are coached by former Vols offensive coordinator Tyson Helton, who recruited Shrout to Tennessee.
