The Dallas Cowboys had one of the best pass-rushing units in the NFL in 2022. Led by All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons (13.5) and aided by DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorance Armstrong, Dante Fowler, and rookie Sam Williams, the Cowboys finished third in the league with 54 sacks.
All of these guys will be on the Cowboys roster in 2023, except maybe Fowler who is a free agent. So, getting to the quarterback is a big strength for Dallas defensively, but no team can have too many pass rushers in today's NFL.
Respected NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah dropped his second mock draft of the offseason on Tuesday. He has the Cowboys adding to their arsenal of pass rushers by taking defensive end Keion White out of Georgia Tech in the first round.
"White has inside/outside versatility, and I think he’ll be one of the stars of next week's combine."
Jeremiah hit the nail on the head about White's skill set.
In the first video below, White shows off his ability on the edge against Clemson in the 2022 season opener. White uses great power by knocking the right tackle backward with his inside arm. White completes the play by taking his outside arm to club his outside shoulder and gets home for the sack.
The next clip indicates White's ability on the inside against the run. White gets great leverage with his power to execute a strong punch off of the line of scrimmage versus a guard. Then, White recognizes where the ball carrier is for an excellent stop inside the five-yard line.
The Cowboys had some troubles against the run last season so getting a guy that can help in that area plus bring pass rush skills from the perimeter would be a plus. White will likely be available after the first round, so the Cowboys could snag him in the second or third round after addressing other pressing needs like cornerback or wide receiver.
