The Philadelphia Eagles have been looking for a new defensive coordinator, and offensive coordinator, since a few days after the Super Bowl. Their former coordinators, Jonathan Gannon, and Shane Steichen left to have head coaching jobs in the NFL.

Now, they have two voids to fill, oh, and a linebackers coach position.

One of the guys they were interested in for their defensive coordinator job, just let the Eagles know he was going to have to back out. But, the good news is it has nothing to do with the Eagles, the organization, coaches, or players.

Jim Leonhard was a guy we heard a lot about during the offseason as they looked for another defensive coordinator. he was by some media guys covering the sport, the favorite to replace Gannon.

But, he let the Eagles know he was backing out because he was going to have to have surgery.

Per Jeremy Fowler:

"Leonhard and the Eagles mutually decided they would not move forward with his DC candidacy, per league sources. Leonhard had planned to undergo hip surgery and sit out coaching for a year, but when the Eagles job opened, both sides had an interest in discussing the position, which they did last week. Ultimately, they decided it wasn't the right time."

Obviously, we hope he can have a great surgery and recover, but the Eagles still need to find their guy.
