The Buffalo Bills fanbase will tell the straight-up truth to anyone who listens: The Bills are the only NFL team to play in New York.

Sure, the Jets and Giants use "New York" in their respective names but geographically, they don't even play in the state. So when Billls Mafia points this fact out, many respond with how it isn't just about stadiums on a map.

Heck, even the Dallas Cowboys don't play in Dallas! No, instead, it's about the team that each state roots for.

Well, even that argument won't bring the Bills Mafia down. Because it turns out there's new proof that backs up what they've been pounding the table about all these years.

A recent study made by sports media company OhBets recently published its research on the most popular team in each state and you guessed it: The most popular team in New York is the Buffalo Bills.

In other words, the Bills are 1) the only team that plays in New York and 2) the most popular team in New York.

The Giants and Jets can keep the names but what the Bills Mafia has been arguing about all these years is undeniably true beyond geography. They're the only team in New York.

It's the only state in which the team is the most popular but it's enough for the Bills Mafia. If you're curious, neither the Jets nor the Giants are the most popular in any state. The Dallas Cowboys are first in the list with 15 states in which they are the most popular while the second-place New England Patriots are the most popular in five states.

The study put together by OhBets analyzed Google search data from the past 12 months.
