As we all know, Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders no longer have a relationship when it comes to football. They have now parted ways, as Carr was released earlier this week. So, it's time for both sides to find a new partner in that relationship.
But, with that, there is always a reason why. People want to know why it didn't work. But now we finally know, now that Derek Carr's brother, David Carr, who once played in the league as well, revealed what the rift was between the two.
“There was just a difference of opinion about how to run offensive football,” David Carr said on NFL Network’s Total Access. "When you’re a veteran quarterback… they want some control at the line of scrimmage. They want to be able to utilize their superpower… [Derek] wants to get to the line, decipher what the defense is doing, get into the appropriate play, and that skill wasn’t utilized in Las Vegas under Josh McDaniels and that’s fine.
"There’s nothing wrong with that. Derek and Josh [McDaniels] had a good conversation today, they parted ways. Josh is going to do his thing. He’ll find a new quarterback that fits his system and Derek will find a system that fits his style.”
This makes so much sense. It's almost as if the Raiders, well, McDaniels, weren't allowing Carr to be a quarterback, essentially. He was the franchise guy and has been for years. I mean, Carr literally holds the record for career passing yards by a Raiders quarterback.
Carr has done so much for the community, whether it be in Las Vegas or Oakland. He was the Raiders. Now he is gone, and that's okay, but it definitely brings more peace to the situation knowing what we know now.
