The Chicago Bears are bringing a familiar face back to the franchise.

Chicago announced on Wednesday that they're bringing Jon Hoke back to serve on Matt Eberflus' coaching staff.

Hoke will serve as the Bears' cornerbacks coach/passing game coordinator.

Hoke most recently served as the Atlanta Falcons secondary coach (2021-2022).

This will be Hoke's second stint as a Bears assistant coach. The Ohio native was Chicago's defensive backs coach from 2009 to 2014, serving under Lovie Smith and later Marc Trestman.

Hoke, a former defensive back at Ball State, also played for the Bears in 1980.

It doesn't appear that there's any previous connection between Hoke and Eberflus. This seems to be Eberflus simply filling a spot on his coaching staff with a coach that's strongly familiar with Chicago, which certainly isn't a bad move.
