The Cincinnati Bengals have heard all kinds of stuff regarding the future of wide receiver Tee Higgins. The successful 24-year-old who's solidified himself as the WR2 behind Ja'Marr Chase is up for a contract year in 2023.

The former Clemson Tiger has had two 1,000-yard seasons in two of his three yearsin the NFL. As a rookie, he didn't reach the coveted millennial benchmark but still had a great season with 908 yards to his name.

That type of success, especially on a team with an established superstar like Chase, will get everyone thinking about trades.

Just last week, The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. shared an opinion saying the Bengals could look at trading Higgins. Immediately after, the social media world took the words and twisted them while acting as if Higgins was reportedly on the trade block.

During Super Bowl week, the Bengals wide receiver was asked on live TV about the speculation about his future. Higgins delivered an answer Cincinnati will love.

"I plan on being in Cincinnati for a while," said Joe Burrow's No. 2 receiver.

Of course, it will take two to dance. And if one thing is clear is that the Bengals will have to make some sacrifices as they prepare to break the bank to pay Joe Burrow. The mission started months ago as the team even got itself a stadium sponsor and the next step will be figuring out how the salary cap will be distributed.

Make no mistake about it, it can be done. But it's a matter of how the Bengals want to go about it. Chase and Burrow will be priorities in the long term over Higgins.

But this team will be right back in AFC contention in 2023. Even if the Bengals are unable to bring back Tee Higgins when his contract expires almost a year from now, it's probably worth keeping him around.

Burrow's success has been made possible thanks in big part to his top-tier wide receivers. Sometimes, it's easy to overthink football and get caught up in trade scenarios.

But the Bengals are a better team with Higgins. Period.
