New Tennessee Titans General Manager Ran Carthon comes from one of the best run organizations in the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers are a well-oiled machine, and Carthon has been an instrumental part of the team's success over the years.

Since being hired by the Niners in 2017, Carthon has held roles as Director of Pro Personnel and Director of Player Personnel, working to evaluate collegiate prospects and assist in the construction of the pro free agency board and scouting.

According to David Lombardi, a 49ers reporter for The Athletic, Carthon's scouting department also operated the later rounds of the NFL Draft. That gives the Titans' new General Manager a remarkably impressive draft history.

TE George Kittle, WR Richie James, LB Dre Greenlaw, WR Jauan Jennings, S Talanoa Hufanga, RB Elijah Mitchell, and QB Brock Purdy. All players drafted by San Francisco in the 5th round or later since Carthon has been a part of the scouting department.

Each one of those players has had a major role in the team's sustained success over the last few seasons. The 49ers' hit rate in the draft has brought their roster some much needed star power and depth, making them one the favorites to win this year's Super Bowl.

That draft history should get Titans fans excited about their new GM.

As Jon Robinson closed the Titans' Super Bowl window by missing on his draft selections, Carthon and the Niners have continued to extend theirs with the depth of every draft class. Now with the Titans, Carthon takes the reins over the entire draft with hopes of replicating that process.

Should he do so, Carthon and head coach Mike Vrabel could very quickly build the Titans back to being a perennial Super Bowl contender.
