Chiefs, Mahomes,

The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions. They did it, even with a banged-up quarterback.

It's crazy, really, the fact that things weren't looking amazing in the first half when Mahomes wasn't as banged up. To end the half he was sacked, and it looked like Eagles' linebacker T.J. Edwards came down on the bad ankle.

Mahomes then took some time to get up and was grimacing pretty noticeably. He limped to the locker room for halftime, and we wouldn't actually know how he was feeling until after Rihanna got done performing.

The crazy thing is, it's almost like he entered a whole new level of play in the second half. In the first half, he wasn't bad by any means, he just wasn't getting the chance to show much. Time of possession almost cost the Chiefs the game.

After the game, he commented on how he was able to keep going, and what he is going to do next when it comes to the ankle.

"It's the competitor," Mahomes said on the NFL Network desk after hoisting the trophy. "I mean, I think everybody on this table would say it man, that competitor in you to be in this game. That's what you work for your entire life.

"And I knew I wasn't coming out of this game. And even with that high ankle sprain that kind of re-aggravated a little bit, I'll worry about that in the off-season."

Mahomes really showed his best version of having the "Mamba Mentality."

The Chiefs were able to win because of the plays Mahomes made in the second half. For the people saying he shouldn't have won the Super Bowl MVP, think of this:

Mahomes had a high ankle sprain re-aggravated, then ran 26 yards in the fourth quarter with two minutes left to get the Chiefs in scoring position. That's elite. Quarterbacks don't do that often, let alone with a hurt ankle.

Mahomes deserves all the praise coming his way.
