The Las Vegas Raiders once again fall short of the main goal, which is to win the division and have a chance to play for the Lombardi trophy. They fell way too short though.
I mean, before this season started we all thought this team could be a Super Bowl contender, because on paper this one is better than last year's team, and last season they made the playoffs.
There are some things that have to be fixed this offseason because there is some major talent on this roster that is just being wasted in a way. Some of the key players know what needs to be changed.
"Hopefully we do something, not drastic, but we have to make some changes, whether it is the way we play, or otherwise, so we have time to figure that out," Davante Adams said after the loss to Kansas City.
There definitely doesn't need to be any drastic changes like a coaching change or anything like that. Maybe a coordinator change for both offense and defense, but McDaniels isn't going anywhere.
Plus, if you fire him, then the team restarts all over again trying to learn a new system and all.
Instead, I think they just need to continue to work with McDaniels, improve his system, and perfect it. There was one issue that they had this season that wasn't necessarily on McDaniels.
"Execution in clutch moments is what's needed. It's what separates teams," Darren Waller said.
This couldn't be more true, and while some blame can go on McDaniels for playcalling, most is on the players for not executing what needs to be executed.
The biggest thing to me, besides those two things two of the best players on the team pointed out, is player personnel. The Raiders need better players on defense because this year was awful on that side of the ball.
Besides Maxx Crosby and maybe Nate Hobbs, did anyone stand out to you? Probably not. This draft will be crucial for the Raiders. They need defense and offensive line, and they need to get it right.
