The Cincinnati Bengals had another deep playoff run in 2022, but there's a dark cloud that hangs over it.

About 24 hours before the Bengals played the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round, running back Joe Mixon allegedly pointed a gun at a woman and threatened to shoot her in what is being called a road rage incident. A warrant for misdemeanor aggravated menacing was filed but the case was dismissed last week.

Although Mixon won't face any legal action, at least not at the moment, it's not a good look, especially with his history.

During his days at Oklahoma, Mixon was suspended for the season in 2014 after knocking a woman unconscious which broke four bones in her face. These are separate incidents, but if it comes out that this latest one is true, it shows a pattern of disturbing behavior.

The Bengals could choose to cut ties with Mixon which would save them $7.2 million against the salary cap in 2023. Sajame Perine, Mixon's backup, is an unrestricted free agent and the Bengals have the option of bringing him back at a cheaper rate and finding another runner in the draft if that's the route they take.

Cincinnati is also looking to sign quarterback Joe Burrow to a long-term extension as soon as possible. So, parting ways with Mixon would help in that regard too.

Mixon may never face any punishment for this alleged incident. However, just having his name associated with it could be enough to push him out the door, so it'll be interesting to see how the Bengals handle this situation.
