With the success the Dallas Cowboys have had over the last two seasons, it's no secret that teams would want to snag ingredients from their recipe. Defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, is one of the top candidates for the head coaching gig with the Denver Broncos.
Much like this time last season, Quinn isn't the only coordinator in Dallas that has eyeballs on him. Kellen Moore engineered two no. 1 ranked offensive units in the previous three seasons and guided the Cowboys' offense to finishing fourth in points per game in 2022.
As a result, the Carolina Panthers have requested permission to speak with Moore about being their headman for the foreseeable future.
Moore has to be given some credit for what he's accomplished in the last two seasons. Although quarterback Dak Prescott has missed a total of six games, five at the beginning of this season, the Cowboys have gone 5-1 with Cooper Rush at the helm. However, Moore does have his flaws.
Over the years, as good as some of the numbers look, Moore has shown a tendency to be predictable with first and second down runs, forcing the Cowboys into too many third and long situations where opposing teams know they have to pass. Also, Moore can get pretty pass-heavy at times and neglect the two-headed monster of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard in the running game, making the Cowboys unbalanced offensively.
Regardless of the ridicule he gets at times, Moore is a talented offensive mind. Now, It will interesting to see if Moore did enough this season to garner a head coaching job this time around after getting turned down by multiple organizations a year ago.
