This certainly isn't ideal news that the Dallas Cowboys wanted to hear heading into the playoffs.
Rookie defensive end, Sam Williams, who was involved in a car accident on December 22 that totaled his new Chevrolet Corvette, has been cited for misdemeanor reckless driving by the Plano police department.
Williams and the other person involved didn't sustain any major injuries but were taken to the hospital for observation. The second-round pick suffered several bruises on his face and a concussion that forced him to miss the Cowboys' Christmas Eve showdown with Philadelphia Eagles but he did play 41 snaps in the final two games.
After such a traumatic encounter, Williams was reflective.
“My first thing was like, ‘Thank you, God,’” Williams said, via the team's website. “Because it could’ve been worse. I was thinking about my son- a lot- and his mom. I could’ve been gone that fast, without seeing them, saying goodbye, anything. And I was going home to them, think I was five or six minutes from my house.”
Of course, the main thing is that Williams and all parties involved are doing well. However, real life doesn't go away, and Williams will have to face the music for his involvement in this particular incident.
