The Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs will once again meet in the AFC Championship this weekend.

The matchup looks to be one of two high-flying offenses that have gotten great performances by their defense during the postseason. Joe Burrow versus Patrick Mahomes is always a matchup to get excited for if you’re a football fan.

Before the matchup, the Bengals made an intriguing move. They are clearly trying to annoy the Chiefs just a bit, but it makes sense.

Cincinnati claimed CB/core special teamer Chris Lammons off of waivers from the Chiefs.

That means Lammons won’t be suiting up for Kansas City this weekend.

He won't play for the Bengals, either, but that wasn't the goal here.

By NFL rule, he actually can’t even communicate with the team. Cincy didn’t expect him to, though. It seems like they just wanted to be a thorn in the side of KC.

The move prevents him from having an impact on special teams for the Chiefs. He rarely got defensive snaps, but his role on special teams was undeniable.

On the flip-side, Kansas City must adjust.

The Chiefs need to figure out how they will attack the situation now.

Expect Jaylen Watson and Joshua Williams to both have elevated roles this weekend. They will need some young depth players to step up.

Additionally, on special teams, Deon Bush and Jack Cochrane will probably see more opportunities to make plays on returns by Cincinnati.

Basically, the Bengals just took away one of the Chiefs’ most impactful special teams players. That could become important if the Bengals get a big kickoff or punt return.

The Bengals are taking every opportunity to get a competitive advantage over the Chiefs to secure a spot in the Super Bowl. For Chiefs fans, it is a bit of a move that will make your eyes roll.
