The first big move of the offseason for the Miami Dolphins is acquiring a big name for Defensive Coordinator in Vic Fangio. While Fangio didn't last long as the Denver Broncos' head coach, his defensive acumen stayed the one constant, carrying over to him being one of the hottest defensive coaching candidates.

While offensively, the Dolphins are linked to big-name RB Josh Jacobs early, the effect Fangio can have on the defense could bring one of Fangio's best former players to South Beach.

The player in question is DL Dre'Mont Jones, a versatile defensive lineman who has excelled in his career with the Broncos. Starting with his time with Fangio.

For his career Jones has become one of the most underrated, well-rounded front men on defense in the entire league. Playing a 5-technique edge in 3-4 defensive fronts and a 3-tech in 4-3 fronts, not only does he know Fangio's scheme but has excelled in his career.

In just Jones' first three seasons of his career, he was consistently one of Fangio's best players. 15.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss and 44 QB pressures during their time together.

The concept of pairing him with Christian Wilking as combo tackles on the Miami Dolphins defensive line is incredibly enticing. Especially with Jones' value around $7 million per year, according to Spotrac.

The Dolphins are an estimated $16 million over the cap but can easily create more than enough cap space with a handful of restructures. Restructures we are likely to see come March.

It's uncertain just how adventurous the Dolphins want to be this year. If last year was any indication, Miami isn't done making bold moves for quality talent.

Could a reunion between Fangio and Jones really be a possibility? It makes plenty of schematic sense and could lead the Dolphins to their best defensive line in years.
