A national college football recruiting analyst had some things to say about Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleave that should make UT fans smile.
Iamaleava has been in Hawaii this week participating in the Polynesian Bowl. And 247Sports' Greg Biggins commented on what he's seen from the No. 1 recruit in the nation.
"No one came into this week with more hype than Iamaleava and he has definitely lived up to it," wrote Biggins. "We’ve said it 1,000 times but we’ll say it again, he has arguably the highest ceiling of any quarterback in this year’s loaded ’23 class and it’s tough to imagine a scenario where he doesn’t succeed at Tennessee. Physically, he has all the arm talent you could want and is a high-level athlete as well. He’s a tough kid who can beat you in multiple ways and has drawn raves from his coaches this week for his leadership, work ethic, and how coachable he has been."
It's getting to the point where I'm wondering if there's too much hype around Nico right now.
And that's nothing against Nico — he's more than deserving of the hype. He's the total package as a quarterback: great teammate, great leader, elite physical skills, tough, competitive, etc.
It's just a lot of pressure on a kid that should technically still be in high school right now.
The good news, though, is that based on everything we've seen from Nico so far, he's plenty capable of handling the pressure. He's humble and a hard worker. And he's eager to be great.
Nico has a chance to do some really special things in the SEC. And it's going to be a lot of fun watching him on fall Saturday afternoons in Neyland Stadium.
