Former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga quickly shut down a false Aaron Rodgers narrative that started circulating this week.
Packers rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs told CBS Sports Radio this week that he never hung out with Rodgers outside of the facility this season.
Doubs wasn't complaining — he was simply answering a question — but it of course became a story this week.
"Rodgers is a jerk" is what folks on social media seemed to take away from Doubs' comments.
Bulaga, however, took to Twitter to set the record straight. The former Iowa standout tweeted that he never hung out with Rodgers outside of the facility until he had been in the league for several years.
"Yeah this is ridiculous," tweeted Bulaga. "I never 'hung' out with 12 till my 3 or 4th year in theleague. He came to o-line dinner with us regularly I think in my 5th year. This isn’t college. Stop with this garbage."
Former Packers defensive back Charles Woodson, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, tweeted something similar in response to Bulaga.
Ultimately, playing in the NFL is a job. And I think we've all had jobs where we didn't hang out with certain people outside of work yet still maintained a great working relationship.
People have different personalities and interests. Not everyone is going to hang out with each other outside of work.
And by the way, it's not like Rodgers is a social pariah. He has numerous close friends on the team, including Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, David Bakhtiari, and Marcedes Lewis, among others.
Just because Doubs, who is 17 years younger than Rodgers, didn't get to hang out with the starting quarterback during the season doesn't mean that Rodgers is a bad guy. It just means those two particular players didn't link up any during the season. Nothing more, nothing less.
