The Philadelphia Eagles have had one thing that has pretty much set them apart from the rest of the top teams in the league, and it has been there all season.
This is a team that was undefeated for most of the season, and then had just one win for pretty much the rest of the season. So, what does that do?
Well, that fires up other teams. When they play the Eagles, most of the time they play their best ball or at least try to. Everyone this season wanted to be that team that beat the Eagles, even though it only happened three times. They wanted to be able to say they beat the future Super Bowl champions.
"We know we have a target on our back," Cox said. "It's like when teams are playing us, they are bringing their A-game. Guys have a little more juice when they are playing us. I think that is what happened Sunday. I think that they came out probably with a little more energy than we did and we got behind early in the game… and ran out of time."
Most great teams go through this. Everyone wants to beat the best team because, well, they are competitors, and why not? Look at the Eagles, everything they have accomplished this season, and then look at their roster. Why would you not want to beat a team that has really everything going for them?
This team has responded well though, besides the last two weeks.
The Eagles, and Cox, will tell you last week they didn't come to play or want it as much as the Saints did. That simply cannot happen this weekend, whether it's Gardner Minshew or Jalen Hurts, this game is almost like a must-win if they want to host the NFC Championship game, that is, if they can make it that far.
It will be tough, as the whole league wants some of the Eagles. They definitely have a target on their back against the Giants too, a division opponent who wants to enter the playoffs on a high note.
