The Dallas Cowboys are committed to Dak Prescott. There is no question about that — nor should there be.

Dallas is planning for Prescott to be their quarterback for the "next 10 years." However, the Cowboys have not been shy about wanting to add another signal caller to the roster through the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.

It's a smart strategy to draft a quarterback every year. With unexpected injuries, teams always have to be prepared at the backup spot. Dak Prescott, obviously, took advantage of his opportunities when Tony Romo went down in 2016.

This year's draft class has four names at the top: Bryce Young of Alabama, CJ Stroud of Ohio State, Will Levis from Kentucky, and Anthony Richardson out of Florida. There seems to be a pretty good chance that all four go inside the top-10 selections.

Therefore, the Cowboys would be smart to scout the next tier of signal callers. In fact, there is one quarterback who is projected to go later in the draft that is standing out to Jerry Jones.

Cowboys have interest in former TCU QB

TCU quarterback Max Duggan is the name that Jones brought up this week. Duggan is participating in the Senior Bowl down in Mobile as the draft process really kicks off. That is where he impressed the Cowboys' owner and general manager.

"He just looked comfortable," Jones said about Duggan. "He looked confident. And he was really throwing the ball around. He was certainly the most impressive quarterback (at the Senior Bowl) in my mind."

Duggan played his college football close to AT&T Stadium while at TCU in Fort Worth. He led the Horned Frogs to a College Football Playoff berth and finished second in the Heisman Trophy race during his final season on the collegiate level.

Max Duggan is not viewed as the most polished prospect coming out; however, his ability to make plays out of structure could translate well to the next level. It's easy to see why he has the attention of Jones.

There are still months to go until the NFL Draft. With that said, if the Cowboys do take Duggan, he would provide the team with a passer with upside to backup Prescott. That would be a wise move for Dallas to consider.
