The Buffalo Bills' sky-high expectations were not met this past season.
Both Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills were odds-on favorites to win the MVP and Super Bowl, respectively.
What went wrong?
Unfortunately, a flurry of key injuries derailed the season. Micah Hyde, a leader on the defense, was ruled out for the season after suffering a stinger against the Titans.
Weeks later, Von Miller suffered a torn ACL, ending his season as well. Tie that in with various other injuries including a Josh Allen UCL injury, offensive line injuries, and of course the Damar Hamlin situation.
Admittedly, injuries are part of the game and aren’t the definitive reason the Bills didn’t meet their Super Bowl expectations.
Lack of offensive execution, defense falling flat, and just simply being outcoached were the main factors in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Bills Mafia were quick to request a clean slate for the team after their playoff exit. No coach or player was spared, outside of Josh Allen it seemed.
So you're saying there's a chance?
However, Vegas may have other ideas. Objectively, the Buffalo Bills still have a very good football team and will get some pieces back next season.
While premiere players like Tremaine Edmunds, Ed Oliver, and Jordan Poyer may be suiting up for another team, it appears there’s still hope.
Buffalo is second in Super Bowl odds for next season, a pleasant surprise for those who may think this team's Super Bowl window has closed.
Vegas always wins, and this is under the category of “way-too-soon-odds.” However, this just goes to show how competitive of a team Buffalo has.
Have hope, Bills Mafia
Josh Allen is returning, Brandon Beane will undoubtedly work his magic, and hopefully, the team will have better injury luck than they did this past season.
Winning a Super Bowl isn’t easy, but Buffalo is in the midst of some of the best chances they’ve had since the mid-1990s.
Contrary to popular belief, Buffalo is a juggernaut. Here’s hoping Vegas is right and Josh Allen can hoist the Lombardi next season.
