So far this offseason it's been nothing but good news for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Earlier this month, the Bengals learned that they'll be getting both coordinators back in 2023.
Offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is returning after being a finalist for the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job.
Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo returns after being a finalist for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job.
Quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher, who was in the mix for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator job, is also returning. The return of Callahan and Pitcher means that Joe Burrow will have the same coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the fourth straight season (every season of Burrow's career).
On Sunday, Cincinnati received some more good coaching staff news.
Wide receivers coach Troy Walters was involved in the Cardinals' offensive coordinator search. But on Sunday, Arizona hired Cleveland Browns quarterbacks coach Drew Petzing as their new offensive coordinator.
That means, of course, that Walters will be back in Cincy in 2023.
Walters has been with the Bengals since 2020 when he was hired as an assistant wide receivers coach (he was previously the offensive coordinator at Nebraska). He was promoted to wide receivers coach in 2021, which means Ja'Marr Chase will have the same wide receivers coach for the third straight season.
Continuity when it comes to coaching is often overlooked, but it's an extremely important aspect of having success in the NFL. And no one has a better "continuity situation" than the Bengals.
