The Chicago Bears released a player on Friday that they signed to a two-year deal ahead of the 2022 season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday evening that Chicago is releasing defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad.

Muhammad played in 16 games for the Bears in 2022 with nine starts. He totaled 29 tackles with one sack and one tackle for loss.

Muhammad signed a two-year deal worth $8 million last spring.

Releasing the former Miami standout will come with a $500,000 dead cap hit. The Bears will save $3.9 million in cap space.

Chicago will have plenty of cash to spend this offseason. According to Spotrac, the Bears will have around $100 million in cap space, which is more than enough for Chicago to make some splash signings later this spring.

2022 was a rough season for the Bears. But after hitting the reset button last year, Chicago could quickly turn things around with an exciting offseason.

It'll be fun to watch general manager Ryan Poles go to work this offseason and turn the Bears into a contender.
